Jordan Brand XX8 Days Of Flight: Air Jordan VIII

As we kick off the second week of the XX8 Days of Flight, we look back at the Air Jordan VIII.
Originally released in 1993, the Air Jordan VIII was the first Air Jordan to feature straps. Ten years later in 2003, the Air Jordan 8 Retro was released for the first time. Since then, we have only seen the Air Jordan 8 Retro in 2008 as a part of the Jordan 15/8 Collezione "Countdown" Pack. The Air Jordan VIII was originally released in only three colorways, the least amount for any Air Jordan model to date. Here is what Jordan Brand had to say about the Air Jordan VIII:

"Our Air Jordan VIII locked it down in what would be another championship year. Crossing straps and extra padding wrapped the foot in protection, and its polycarbonate torsion plate gave MJ dynamic support. For Day 8 of XX8 Days of Flight, break out your ‘eights’."

2013 marks the long awaited return of the Air Jordan 8 Retro. The last time we saw the Air Jordan 8 Retro release (minus 2008s Collezione "Countdown" Pack) was 2007. Kicking things off in April is the original white, black and red colorway. After that, we will see a new colorway as well as the return of the original "Playoff" colorway. So far, those are the only three colorways set to release at the time. If more colorways are announced and confirmed to release in 2013, I will be sure to let everyone know. Be sure to check out the 2013 Release Dates section for all your Air Jordan 8 Retro release information.

For now, enjoy the images below of this sample black and volt green colorway of the Air Jordan VIII made exclusively to celebrate the Jordan XX8 Days Of Flight Collection. Be sure to check out my Twitter @ajordanxi and Instagram @ajordanxi as I have submitted pictures of some of my Air Jordan VIII collection to share with everyone. You can also see them on the official Facebook page here as well.
