Air Jordan 9 Retro DB "Doernbecher" by Oswaldo Jimenez

The Nike Doernbecher 2012 collection will once again feature a shoe from Jordan Brand. This year it will be an Air Jordan IX Retro.
Designed by Oswaldo Jimenez, this Air Jordan IX Retro DB features a white-based upper with gold and black accents sitting on a full icy translucent outsole, a first on the Air Jordan IX. Here's the story of Oswaldo and the insipiration for the Nike Doernbecher 2012 Air Jordan 9 Retro DB:

Last December, after a series of fainting spells, Oswaldo Jimenez (11) was given a life-changing diagnosis: severe pulmonary hypertension. The once very active boy now has to be cautious with the amount of energy he exerts. Oswaldo is very close to his family, and drew inspiration for his shoe from his Mexican heritage. “Pollito,” which means little chicken, is Oswaldo’s nickname. It’s lasered in a feather pattern on the sockliner and also featured on the tongue. His favorite number, 17, is on the back heel. Oswaldo’s birthday, September 13, is on the inside of the tongue. Finally, the red and green outsole pays homage to his hometown of Queretaro, Mexico.

The Nike Doernbecher 2012 Freestyle Collection also features a Dunk High SB, Women's Free Run+ 2, Air Force 1 Low, Women's Air Max '90, Free Run+ 2 and, the Air Jordan 9 Retro. Look out for this years collection to release at select Nike retail locations starting on November 30th. They will be limited like previous releases.
